Travel Explored – The Week In Review

It seems that the week has just disappeared since I was writing a very similar post last week. There was some excellent content I got out in the last week and hope that you have enjoyed it. If you missed it, of course, the links are below for you to take a look at the posts which might grab your attention.

With March coming to a close, I found that even though I had hoped to get away for a few days, did not eventuate. After some off and on bad weather in the previous weeks, this week it certainly did not improve.

The week brought with it not just bad weather but some devastating weather. In the form of a Tropical Cyclone that impacted the area between Town and Mackay predominantly on Tuesday. With the ongoing impact from this weather system slowly moving south impacting Brisbane on Thursday. Bringing the whole city and South East corner of the state to a standstill, with nearly everything shut down.

While this week would have been perfect to visit many different areas, I had not planned ahead. Additionally, looking forward to April the prospect of travelling is not looking good either. At least not in Australia, with every one of the four weeks in April covered in School Holidays for one state or another. I do very much hope to get away somewhere for some part of April, so time will tell.

Making The Most Of Time Spent Travelling

Listen to podcasts when travelling
When I travel I like to make the most of the time that is often otherwise dead time. That time such as sitting on any form of transport getting me to my destination. There are a few ways I fill this time and I discussed them in this post on Monday.

Staying Fit While On Board A Cruise Ship

MS Statendam departing San Diego
Having recently returned from ten days on a South Pacific Cruise staying fit while on board is a great topic. Many people just resign themselves to coming home a little heavier, but with a couple of little things in mind, this does not have to be the only way.

Holland America Line - MS Koningsdam

Continuing with the theme of cruising this week, I took some time to think about the ships I would love to travel on. I looked at the top five ships I would like to travel on if money and time were no object of course.

What I’m Reading

While it looks like I share a lot of content myself, I do also get a chance to read other people’s blogs as well. Below are just a couple of posts I found interesting and wanted to share with you.

A Bamboo Theme Park on Geoje Island

I think it was the name of the website (The Soul of Seoul) that caught my attention as much as the title of the post. A Bamboo Theme Park is definitely something a little different and it sounds like a rather interesting place to visit. Maybe one day I will get back to South Korea and have a chance to visit myself.

This Is What Happens When You Take A Paintbrush Hiking In Vail

Hiking is one hobby that I very much love to partake in, although more so in Winter than summer, here in Australia. But the mountains in Colorado and the scenery you can see in this post does look very inviting. Also, an interesting twist for this hike is the Painting as a feature of the experience.

A Lesson In Japan On Being Kind To Strangers

Sometimes the lessons we learn when travelling can be some of the best lessons. It caught my attention more so because Japan is a country I would love to visit. But the lesson of having the time to help a stranger can be something for everyone’s benefit.

Thanks for sharing my post! I do hope you get back here someday to visit the bamboo forest (theme park) down on Geoje Island. Maybe you can just catch a cruise ship that docks in Busan and then head over! It’d be a win win for you I think. ^^
